Imagine, finally telling THAT person your side of the story … describing feelings you didn’t reveal at the time.
Time has gone by and you are still thinking about that incident (or two). You replay in your mind what you would have liked to have said or done. Well, it’s never too late to accept and let go of these unresolved feelings. The best way is to write a letter (anonymously) to that someone. Then, illustrate what you wrote.
“My Side of the Story – Letters and Art” is a Telling Stories Through Visuals outreach project produced by Center for Folk and Community Art. Facilitated by artists Dena Stewart and Stewart Stewart, letter-writing stimulated critical thinking and self-analysis. Drawing helped to visualize the interaction and clarify thoughts.
Experiences were shared, conversations were started, understanding was gained, and respect was developed.
The combination of writing about a situation and illustrating what took place, helped to clarify thoughts, identify feelings, and either let go of negativity or express gratitude.
