She is up against Billy Bob Thornton “Pat Candy” another strategist who is responsible for Jane’s downfall and reason for her dropping out of the high stakes game of winning the political race. He represents the opponent and for that reason Jane come’s out of her self-imposed exile. Great concept.
I love to watch Sandra Bullock in action. She’s beautiful, quirky and knows how to use her character’s inadequacies and competitiveness to draw laughs. And a typically brooding Billy Bob Thornton also brings a certain sex appeal to his roles.
However, “Our Brand is Crisis” has only momentary laughs with no sexual tension, or any chemistry for that matter, between the two starring actors. There is nothing redeeming about either of these characters until, maybe, the end when Jane realizes that winning often means loss.
