Concerned about his son growing up under the wrong influence, Calvin Palmer, Jr. (Ice Cube) the owner of the popular barbershop hangout, rallies his workers and customers to get together and talk about ways to end the violence and killings, as he considers moving his business to the safer side of town.
Laugh out loud funny in spots with some over the top antics, the drama part of the film seemed contrived and the street lingo mixed with sudden spurts of very articulate, but heard-before soundbites, came off as proselytizing.
Don’t get me wrong, the message was extremely clear and vitally important for teenagers and families to know that interactive dialogues are taking place with people all over the Country who live in unsafe neighborhoods. That’s what is needed to take back our streets.
