IF YOU PLAN TO DO BUSINESS WITH THE FOLLOWING COMPANIES, WE WOULD LIKE TO SHARE OUR EXPERIENCES WITH THEM TO HELP YOU AVOID THE SAME MISTAKES WE MADE …
A close relative had passed away suddenly with no Will or burial plan in place. Our family was devastated and overwhelmed by having to make decisions nobody was prepared for. As we grieved our loss, we decided to put our affairs in order and do what we believed would help our family avoid the trauma involved when we expire. We wanted to be cremated and our ashes scattered in the ocean. So we contacted the Neptune Society. While stressed to the max, a very savvy saleswoman sold us a “package plan” that consisted of the service we requested (cremation and burial at sea). What we received, and were charged extra for without our acknowledgment was a fancy wooden box to keep the empty urn in and a dozen printed thank you cards to send to people attending the funeral. The Neptune Society collected an additional $1300 each for my wife and I for products we did not want and did not agree to. When we called the company, we were told that this was the package we signed up for. So lesson learned. Do not make end-of-life decisions with the Neptune Society when you are vulnerable. This company is not on your side.

Valido Moving Company, 471 W 31 Place, Hialeah, FL, 33012, was recommended to us by a neighbor. Two weeks before our moving date, we met with Ricky Valido, the owner of the company. We explained that the move was to two places – our new apartment and a storage facility. Most of the items to be moved was artwork, some of the pieces fragile. Ricky assured us that he was an expert in moving art and promised us that his movers would be very careful. We reached an agreement as to a fair and equitable price. The night before the move he arrived with his truck and two movers. The objective was to load the truck ahead of time so that we could start out early the next morning before we hit traffic. He then pulled us aside and asked for more money than we had agreed upon. When reminded that we had made a deal and that we expected him to hold up to our agreement, he was not happy. The next day he showed up with just one mover instead of the two. As a result, the move took longer than expected and his mover broke three pieces of artwork. We paid him the amount we originally agreed on although we never received his invoice. Having not lived up to his word, we would not recommend his moving company.
