DEEPWATER HORIZON, the movie, first takes us on a tour of the offshore oil-drilling rig to meet the workers and get a sense of their humanity, family, camaraderie and commitment to their job; and the corporate players whose role it is to cut corners and save money.
Seen on an Imax Screen, the audience suffers the unstoppable horror as it unfolds. The communication systems break down as the massive, loud explosion rips the rig apart. Unharnessed oil gushes and balls of flame ignite the surrounding water making it almost impossible to survive this epic catastrophe known as the Gulf of Mexico BP Oil Spill.
Breathless from the realistic special effects and teary-eyed from the emotional trauma witnessed, I experienced DEEPWATER HORIZON as a nail-biting action-adventure flick with a moral.
Mostly, DEEPWATER HORIZON honors the brave men and women whose heroism saved many on board … with an exceptional cast of actors who portrayed them with dignity and admiration.
