Featured in Episode 74 of Alive on South Beach is the MIAMI SPICE culinary kickoff event. This year, the event was held in the ballroom of Miami’s Jungle Island.
For the past 18 years, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has been promoting MIAMI SPICE during August and September. That’s when many of the high-end restaurants in Miami and Miami Beach have a special fixed price menu offering a 3-course meal for brunch, lunch and dinner. Go to ILoveMiamiSpice.com for a full listing of the participating restaurants.
At the culinary kickoff party at Jungle Island, Stewart Stewart and I (Dena Stewart) tasted dishes from some of the 250 participating restaurants. According to William D. Talbert III (“Bill”), President and CEO of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), what began with 40 restaurants, now every year more and more restaurants join this growing list.
Tantalized by its Key Lime Pie dessert served at the MIAMI SPICE event, Stewart and I then had an extraordinary dining experience at A Fish Called AVALON on South Beach. Located in the heart of Miami Beach’s historic Art Deco District, A Fish Called AVALON has been celebrated for its superb cuisine for more than 30 years thanks to its Executive Chef, Kal Abdalla.
Stewart and I look forward to dining at more fabulous restaurants participating in MIAMI SPICE.
