Not long ago, Miami and Miami Beach had designated “seasons” for social activities. Not so, anymore. Food Festivals, Fashion Shows, Trade Conferences, and Literary Events are now year-round. Locals, tourists and visitors are never at a loss for something new to see and do. Being Alive on South Beach is a privilege and a pleasure. Everyone we spoke to at the South Beach Seafood Festival, Miami Book Fair, and the Americas Food & Beverage Show, agreed.
In Episode 70 of Alive on South Beach, Stewart Stewart and I (Dena Stewart) went to the South Beach Seafood Festival. Unlike most other food festivals, this one highlights seafood from the very best local Restaurants. In addition to offering festival-goers delicious fresh seafood delicacies prepared by top chefs, there was live music, dancing, picnic tables and chaise lounges to kick back and enjoy it all on festive South Beach.
In between the parties, The 35th annual Miami-Dade College-Miami Book Fair brought hundreds of known and new Authors to town. How great it was to meet Award-winning, Best-Selling Author Brad Meltzer who talked about trying to get his books published – and then it happened! Brad Meltzer’s books have appeared on Best Seller lists for Fiction, Non-Fiction, Advice, Children’s Books and Comic Books. And he does so much more!
We also spoke with Conor McCreery – best known for his Comic Book Series “Kill Shakespeare”.
(During the fabulous literary presentations, we spoke with many more Authors. These CONVERSATIONS will be shown individually and/or in the next few episodes of Alive on South Beach.)
Then, there was the Americas Food and Beverage Show in the brand new, state-of-the-art, Miami Beach Convention Center. Hundreds of food producers came to this “Food Marketplace” to introduce new products and make deals to distribute them to the public. Stewart and I love this Trade Show … it provides us with an opportunity to taste a variety of treats that include fresh produce from other countries, baked goods, prime meats, fake meats, desserts, and other innovative foods that may or may not make it to the grocers’ shelf (or freezer).
