As a youngster, Jeremy A. Dauber sat around the table with his family and listened to them laugh at jokes about … themselves. So it’s no surprise that Jeremy would grow up to be interested in the history of Jewish comedy.
A New Jersey native, Jeremy graduated from Harvard University and did his doctoral work at Oxford. He is a Professor at Columbia University where he shares his research on Yiddish Language, Jewish Literature, and American Jewish Culture.
He’s even written several books on the subject … and most important, he can tell a funny joke!
As the videographer – standing behind the camera while Stewart and Jeremy talked at length, I thought the conversation was thought-provoking and entertaining. Jeremy reminded me of my own experiences sitting around the table listening to funny stories and jokes. But there was something more familiar about Jeremy. His last name. It/he reminded me of a boy who went to the same summer camp as I did when I was thirteen. Turned out, I went to camp with Jeremy’s father!!!
